Flower girls

It brings a smile to my face when I find a very old and dried out dandelion in my pocket.
It also makes me wonder how long it's been there for.
I'm thankful it's a flower. Sometimes my girls like to collect far dirtier and weirder things on their nature walks. We've had bowls of dirt and leaves sitting around, and collections of acorns that are somehow VERY important.

You're the baby!

My middle daughter is not yet 2. She goes over to our baby, pokes her in the cheeks, and says over and over again, "You baby."

Excuse me

At the dinner table once, my daughter passed gas loudly, and started giggling.
"Next time it happens, say 'Excuse me'," we told her.

A minute later, my wife and I hear:
"Excuse me.
Excuse me.
Excuse me.
Excuse me."

We started silently laughing into our food.

Manners

On Shabbos a woman who lives nearby to us heard my daughter trying to get my attention by saying, "Excuse me, Tatty!"
"Wow, so polite," the woman smiled warmly to us. She went over to my daughter and asked her something.
"No way!" my daughter answered.
I cringed, and reminded her to say, "No, thank you," and not, "No way!" My mother-in-law suggested to my daughter that we only say, "No way!" when someone wants us to try to do an Aveira.

Sweet Nothings

You know when you're having a Deep and Meaningful Conversation with your little one? You sit next to her, stroking her hair, talking about the wonderful things in your lives. Your heart swells, and you want to cherish moments like these. You whisper into her ear, "I love you!"
She smiles, and whispers back, "I have to make."

We lost it!

We gave our kids a KidKraft Chanukah wooden play set.
They were playing with the Menorah, and having a nice time in the middle of a clean living room.
Soon after, I walk back into the room, and notice the pretend frying pan and latkes are nowhere to be seen.
"Where's the frying pan?" I asked.
My oldest daughter looks around, shrugs, and says, "We lost it."
I look at my wife with wide eyes, and we both tragically laugh. Is our house that chaotic that our toddler's first response is that a toy is lost? And anyway, how can we lose a toy three minutes after we got it, when they were playing with it??
I guess it's just the 'kid-friendly' atmosphere we Baruch Hashem have...

Kid-Friendly

One of our Shabbos guests was genuinely thrilled when she walked into our home and saw toys everywhere.
"Wow," she gushed, "I love how your place is so kid-friendly!"
"Thanks," I answered, "we just call that 'messy'."

Didan Natzach

My 3 year old daughter likes to sing, "Didan Natzach: we got the sforim back! Ay yay yay yay ay yay yaya..."
She'll often switch out the words for things we are discussing at the dinner table.
"Didan Natzach, we got the meatballs back!"

Almost 2

One of my daughters is almost two years old, ka'h.
It seems like we said she was a year and a half for a year's time.

Now she has been 'almost two' for a really long time, and she still has over a month to go.

I'm about 330 months, ka'h.
